Islamabad: A survey conducted by Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (Pildat) indicated public opinion about the government performance in various fields
It shows effectiveness of Supreme Court received 56 per cent approval rating, transfer of powers at provincial level 44 percent, effectiveness of National Assembly-government’s performance 48 percent, effectiveness of federal cabinet 52 percent, democratic oversight of the security sector 51 per cent, effectiveness of bureaucracy-government’s performance 34 per cent, human rights 47 percent, safeguarding sovereignty of the state 43 percent and trust in favorite political parties 56 percent.
The survey was conducted keeping in mind the voting intentions of the participants and they were divided into four categories including those having voting intention for PML-N, PTI, PPP and other parties. All the questions designed for the survey were asked from the participants and even people having voting intentions for PTI also gave their approval to almost every indicator.
The participants were asked about government’s performance with regard to making Supreme Court stronger and more independent and 45 per cent termed it good and 8 per cent termed it very good. Whereas 18 percent termed it bad and 6 percent termed it very bad. Voting Intention-wise PML-N gave 56 percent approval, PTI gave 47 percent, PPP gave 60 percent and all others 52 percent.
The report further shows that 37 percent participants termed the government’s performance for transferring powers to provincial government good and 7 percent termed it very good. Similarly 20 percent termed it bad and 7 percent termed very bad. Voting intention-wise 46 percent of PML-N gave approval to government’s performance for transferring powers to provincial governments, 42 percent of those having voting intention for PTI gave their approval. Similarly, 49 percent from PPP and 41 percent from all others gave their approval.
The survey report further shows that 41 percent termed the government’s performance for making National Assembly stronger and more independent as good, 7 percent very good whereas 20 percent termed it very bad and 6 percent very bad. Similarly, 50 percent of those having voting intention for PML-N gave their approval, 43 percent having intention for PTI gave their approval and from PPP 51 percent gave their approval.
With regard to making the prime minister and his cabinet stronger and more independent in order to run the country, 43 percent termed government’s performance good and 9 percent very good whereas 22 percent termed it bad and 7 percent very bad. Voting Intention-wise, 55 percent of those having voting intention for PML-N gave their approval, 50 percent having voting intention for PTI gave their approval whereas 43 percent from PPP gave their approval.
According to the report, 41 percent people termed it good with regard to convincing the military that it is subordinate to democratically elected government and 10 percent very good whereas 19 percent termed it bad and 7 percent termed it very bad. Similarly voting intention-wise, 55 percent of those having voting intention for PML-N gave their approval, 47 percent from PTI, and 49 percent from PPP also gave their approval.
To the question about government’s performance with regard to safeguarding the interference of outside powers in the affairs of the country, 36 percent termed it good and 7 percent very good whereas 25 percent termed it bad and 10 percent very bad.
Voting intention–wise 50 percent of those having voting intention for PML-N gave their approval, 38 percent from PTI and 37 percent from PPP also gave their approval. Similarly 56 percent of the total gave their approval to their favorite political parties. Voting intention wise, 58 percent those having voting intention for PML-N expressed their trust on their favorite party, from PTI 64 percent and from PPP 53 percent expressed trust in their favorite party.
