Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Saturday that after the recent testimony of US journalist Mark Siegel, former military ruler Pervez Musharraf could not absolve himself from the murder case of Benazir Bhutto.
Talking to newsmen on the eve of the anniversary of the Karsaz bomb blasts observed on October 18, he also called for trying former Sindh chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim.
Khuhro said Dr Rahim, being the chief minister at that time, had remarked that Benazir Bhutto’s ill-fated homecoming rally on October 18, 2007, would come to an end before midnight.
Moreover, he said, Pervez Musharraf, being the country’s president and ruler, had an obligation to provide security to the late PPP leader on her arrival back in the country after years of self exile. He said Musharraf hadn’t provided adequate security to Benazir Bhutto and had also remarked that its provision depended upon his state of relations with the late leader.
He said like the last government of Benazir Bhutto had been held responsible for the murder of her brother, Mir Murtaza Bhutto, similarly Pervez Musharraf was also responsible for the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
