FAISALABAD: A four-year-old girl was murdered after rape at Sir Syed Town on Thursday evening.
Kiran Mukhtar was playing in the under-construction house of her parents when she went missing. The family reported the matter to police, who rushed to the spot and started investigation. Police arrested labourer Saeed on suspicion. During preliminary investigation, labourer Saeed told police that he raped the girl after abducting her. Later, he strangled her and hid her body under cement bags kept in a room. Meanwhile, residents of the area staged a demonstration and blocked main road for more than an hour to register their protest. They ended the protest when police high-ups told them that the accused had already been arrested by police and justice would be provided to the family.
On Thursday, Batala Colony police produced the accused labourer before Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Raja Pervez Akhtar and sought his 10-day remand, which was granted.
