Doctors’ anomaly

The Sindh government’s decision to establish Bilawal Medical College n Jamshoro should be appreciated. The institute will go a long way in improving medical education in the province.
However, the government should also focus on filling vacant posts in BHUs in far-off places of the province. It is strange that we have thousands of jobless doctors while in districts like Tharparkar many posts that are vital to run healthcare units are lying vacant. The reason is that nobody wants to serve in these backward areas. The government should try to address this anomaly.
