KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday distanced itself from a friendly tour of the country currently being undertaken by the national cricket team of Greece.
In a statement, the Board made it clear that it is not involved in any aspect of what it described as an “unofficial and private” tour undertaken by the Greek national team.
“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been given to understand that national cricket team of Greece has arrived in Pakistan for a few friendly games. This is an unofficial and private tour and PCB is no way involved with it,” the PCB statement said.
“PCB’s support was sought for the tour, but with the relevant government clearances promised by the team not forthcoming, the Board had declined to support the tour. This was informed to the Greece cricket authorities well in advance of the team embarking on its journey to Pakistan,” it added.
“The PCB therefore does not take any responsibility of any arrangements, including security, accommodation, transportation, availability of venues, opposition teams etc., with regard to this unofficial tour,” the statement concluded.
