LAHORE: Punjab Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Department kept on rendering essential municipal services, including maintaining sanitation, washing and disinfecting major public areas, provision of hand washing facilities, clearing and grubbing of graveyards during anti-dengue activities across the province during all Eid days.
The staff of all 455 local governments as well as waste management companies of LG&CD remained present on duty during Eid days to ensure implementation of Eidul Fitr plan. Zero-waste operations were carried out before Eid as well as on the last day of Eid across the province particularly at busy markets, bus stands, railway stations, graveyards and dedicated places for Eid prayers. Besides cleaning and washing, disinfection spray was also done especially in public transport. Under anti-dengue measures, graveyards, workshops and other places were inspected resultantly the scrap and used tyres were removed to avoid breeding of dengue larvae.
According to Special Secretary LG Babar Aman Babar, keeping in view the challenges special duty roasters of both officers and staff were issued so that smooth delivery of essential services across Punjab be ensured during all Eid days. Work of local governments and waste management companies across Punjab is highly commendable in maintaining state of sanitation and ensuring a clean and healthy environment for citizens even on days when everyone enjoys time sitting at home.
