ISLAMABAD: During the crackdown ordered by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the FIA Islamabad zone conducted 59 successful raids on the big organised human traffickers in the federal capital and Rawalpindi division and arrested 261 human smugglers and agents.
As many as 1,212 passports have been recovered from the possession of arrested suspects. Six most wanted human traffickers’ agents have also been brought to justice. 177 human smuggling agents have been successfully got convicted from the courts and a huge amount of Rs58.83 million has been recovered and distributed amongst the affectees, whereas, a fine of Rs10.25 million has been imposed on the convicted human smugglers/agents by the court, Director Crimes Inam Ghani said.
It’s is worth mentioning here that due to this proactive and zero tolerance policy against human smuggling, reasonable imprisonments have been ordered by the relevant courts which is an ample proof of technically and scientifically conducted investigations in all the anti human smuggling causes. In this regard, following convictions are worth mentioning, the director said.
Accused agent Jabran Haroon has been sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment along with heavy fine. Agent Najab Khan has been sentenced to 10 years, agent Javed Iqbal to eight years, agent Nadia Javed to six years, agent Muhammad Yaqoob to eight years, agent Kamran Sohail to eight years, agent Shamsuddin to five years, agent Arif Khokhar to four years and agent Someal Maseh to three years rigorous imprisonment along with hefty amounts of fines, he added.
