KARACHI: FATA Region’s Asif Afridi captured six wickets to help his team dismiss Faisalabad Region for 185 in the first innings of their Pool A match on day one of Inter-Region Qualifying tournament 2015-16 round 2 at UBL Sports Complex here on Tuesday.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Faisalabad Region were all out for 185 in 64.1 overs. Waqas Wasif (47 runs), Atif Manzoor (46 runs) and Sharoz Raza (30 runs) batted well for the side. Asif Afridi captured six wickets for 63 runs. Mohammad Irfan took two wickets for 53.
FATA Region reached 90-1 in 29 overs. Mohammad Naeem (41 not out) and Mohammad Sarwar (34 not out) were on crease at the end of the day.
In another Pool A game, at National Stadium here, Abbottabad Region scored 221-5 in 90 overs against Karachi Region Blues. Adnan Younis scored 105. Khalilullah was 80 not out. Mirza Ahsan Jamil grabbed three wickets for 54.
In a Pool B match, here at NBP Stadium, Lahore Region Blues were all out for 258 in 77.2 overs against Bahawalpur Region.
Raza Ali Dar batted impressively scoring 105 off 170 balls. Mohammad Ikhlaq (46 runs) and Farhan (39 runs) also made important contributions for the side. Imranullah Aslam bowled well and took five wickets for 76 runs. Mohammad Imran grabbed three wickets, while Kamran Hussain took two.
Bahawalpur Region lost two wickets with only 25 runs on the board. Bilawal Iqbal took both wickets.
In another Pool B match, at Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, Sialkot Region scored 331-8 in 90 overs on the first day against Multan Region. Atiq-ur-Rehman (95 runs) and Ali Raza (91 runs) batted well for the side. Umair Arshad captured four wickets for 94 while Usman Mushtaq took three for 71.
