No excuse for increase in dengue cases: Shahbaz
LAHORE CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed extreme indignation over the increase in the number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi and strongly reprimanded heads of departments and institutions concerned and officers of administration. CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed extreme indignation over the increase in the number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi and strongly reprimanded heads of departments and institutions concerned and officers of administration.
He said that there was no justification for increase in the number of dengue patients this year as compared to the corresponding period last year. He said the departments concerned and institutions had displayed criminal negligence towards taking timely measures for controlling dengue and no excuse would be accepted in this regard.
Addressing a meeting through a video link on dengue control, here Tuesday, the chief minister said increase in the number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi was lamentable and the departments concerned had shown negligence and dereliction of duty towards dengue control. He said that departments concerned had committed an unpardonable mistake by not implementing the procedure evolved for controlling dengue virus. He said had timely measures been taken against dengue, this situation would not have emerged in Rawalpindi.
He said there was nothing more precious than human lives; therefore, effective measures should be adopted against dengue and modern technology should be utilised for this purpose; anti-dengue plan should be fully implemented and departments concerned should take effective measures through collective efforts. He warned that he wanted results and no excuse would be acceptable. He said that all departments concerned and district administration should play an active role in this regard. He said that due attention should be paid to indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance.
He directed that Adviser Health, Chief Secretary, Secretary Health and Vice-Chancellor King Edward Medical University should stay in Rawalpindi and personally supervise anti-dengue measures.
power project: Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to 1,320-megawatt coal power project in Qadirabad, Sahiwal and reviewed the pace of progress of this important and big project of power generation.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that two coal-based energy projects of 660 megawatts each were being set up in Sahiwal and it was an important project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said the project would start energy generation during 2017. He directed that besides maintaining a high standard, due attention should also be paid to speedy completion of the project for achieving the best results.
MPs: Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan cannot afford politics of anarchy and 180 million people of the country fully know how politics of sit-ins created hurdles in the process of national development last year.
He said that politics was the name of public service and Pakistan Muslim League-N had practically proved this fact. He stressed upon elected representatives to serve the people with commitment and make the all-out effort for solution of their problems. He was talking to assembly members.
