Four suspects held for murder of 25-year-old in Clifton two weeks ago

Police on Sunday arrested four suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a woman at her home in Karachi’s Gizri area two weeks ago.

According to the District South police, the woman was killed for resisting a robbery bid at her house located near the Chandni Chowk in Clifton on April 13. The deceased was 25-year-old Safia, daughter of Allah Bachayo.

Following the murder, an investigation team was formed to probe the case. According to South Investigation SSP Amir Saud Magsi, four suspects, namely Zubair, Wasim Baloch, Arshad and Shoaib, robbed the victim’s house.

The robbers looted cash, jewellery, cell phones and other valuables, he said, adding that they killed the victim for resisting their robbery bid. The officer said the police busted the gang and registered cases against them on Sunday.

The gang members had been involved in various other cases, including robberies, registered against them in the Clifton and the Defence police stations, he added.

2016 murder case

A suspect alleged to have killed a man during a mugging bid four years ago was said to have been arrested on Sunday. The Crime Investigation Department (CTD) said they arrested the suspect during a raid conducted in the Jacob Lines area. The suspect was identified as Rehan alias Baba.

According to the CTD police, the suspect along with his companions had killed a young man near the Taj Complex in Saddar in 2016 after the victim resisted their mugging bid. One of his accomplices, namely Danish, had been arrested earlier, while Rehan was on the run, the police said. After his arrest, Rehan admitted his involvement in various criminal cases during a preliminary interrogation, the police added.

‘Motorcycle lifter’ held

The Anti Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) of the police claimed on Sunday to have arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the theft of motorcycles in Karachi.

According to a spokesperson for the AVLC, the suspect was arrested during a raid in Baldia Town by the Baldia AVLC. He was identified as Azan, son of Yousuf. The spokesperson said a stolen motorcycle and pistol were seized from the suspect’s possession, and added that he was a habitual motorcycle lifter and a drug addict who sold stolen motorcycles in exchange for drugs.

The suspect was arrested in the past as well. Legal proceedings against him and efforts for the arrests of his accomplices are under way.
