Another 14 tested positive in twin cities taking tally to 409

Rawalpindi : In last 24 hours, as many as 14 patients have been tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by 2019 novel coronavirus here in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi after which the number of confirmed patients so far reported from the twin cities has crossed the figure of 400.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Friday has revealed that another 13 patients have been discharged after achieving complete cure from Corona Management Centre at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology in last 24 hours taking total number of recoveries at CMC to 67 while another 18 confirmed patients have recovered from the disease in the district who had been in isolation at their homes.

It is, however, important that not a single confirmed patient of COVID-19 has recovered in Islamabad Capital Territory in last three days where as five new patients of the disease were tested positive in ICT on Tuesday taking total number of confirmed patients from ICT to 185.

A total of nine new patients were tested positive in Rawalpindi district on Tuesday taking total number of confirmed patients from the district to 224 of which seven have died of the infection.

The COVID-19 that has already claimed over 11 lives in the twin cities did not cause any death in last 24 hours in the region. To date, a total of 409 patients have been tested positive for coronavirus illness in the twin cities.

Of 185 confirmed patients reported from the federal capital, 20 have recovered while three have lost their lives. As many as 162 confirmed patients of COVID-19 were undergoing treatment in Islamabad on Tuesday. A total of 105 patients have so far recovered from the disease in the region.

According to Executive District Officer (Health) Rawalpindi Dr. Sohail Ahmed Chaudhary, majority of persons who were under quarantine at their homes in the district completed the quarantine period on Tuesday though 227 persons who have reached Pakistan from UAE were still under quarantine.
