DIR: The young son of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Sahibzada Tariqullah died in a road accident near here on Sunday.
His four cousins were injured in the accident when the vehicle, a land cruiser, rammed into a truck parked on the roadside.
It was learnt that Sahibzada Waqas Ahmad had gone to a nearby scenic place along with his cousins when the accident took place at Panakot, some five kilometres north of Dir town.
Some people suspected that brake failure had caused the accident. However, a police official, who visited the spot, claimed that the steering of the wheel had jammed. Waqas Ahmad, a student of 10 grade, died on the spot.
A hospital official, who handled the emergency, said Waqas had already died when he was brought to the hospital.
The injured were identified as Sahibzada Mutasim Billah (son of newly elected District Nazim Sahibzada Fasihullah), Sahibzada Fawad Ahmad, Sahibzada Jawad and Sahibzada Zeeshan.
Two of the injured were serious. The doctors said they had sustained head injuries and were referred to a hospital in Timergara.
