DAGGAR: A cop from the Elite force of the police was martyred while a soldier sustained injuries in a clash with the militants in the area of the Elam Mountain in Buner district. It was learnt that the police and the security forces launched a search operation in the Elam Mountain in Buner after getting information about the presence of militants in the forested, mountainous area. During the search operation, the militants hiding there opened fire on the police in which a member of the Elite force embraced martyrdom. The martyred cop was identified as Mohammad Hanif. A soldier was also injured in the firing by the militants. However, he was stated to be out of danger. The funeral prayer for the cop was offered at the Police Lines in Daggar, Buner and his body was sent to his village for burial with state honours. The civil and military officials attended the funeral. No militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. However, militants associated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have in the recent past been sighted in the Elam Mountain area. Earlier also, they clashed with law-enforcement and security personnel.
