ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad on Thursday ordered release of late cleric of Lal Masjid Ghazi Abdul Rasheed’s two sons on bail after submission of Rs30,000 surety bonds each.
The sons Haroon and Haris were produced before the duty Magistrate Amir Khalil after the completion of their physical remand of one day. The police requested the judge to grant judicial remand of the suspects.
However, the suspect’s lawyer told the court that the recovered pistol is licensed and also presented proofs. The court directed the police to release the brothers over surety bonds worth Rs30000 each.
Earlier, the two sons among three persons were arrested after police seized weapons and commando uniforms from car.
Police stopped a car at a checkpoint and found Rasheed’s two sons in possession of commando uniform and weapons. The personnel apprehended three people after checking.
The police also acquired one-day remand of both Haris Rasheed and Haroon Rasheed among another person after registering a case regarding possession of illegal weapons.
