KARACHI: Yasir Malik, Pakistan Cricket Team’s Strength and Conditioning Coach, has said that a fitness test battery had been designed to help players stay fit while confined in their homes due to lockdown amid coronavirus pandemic.
“We wanted to run at least six tests this year. We have conducted four. The dates for the fifth were March 23 and 24 but due to quarantine period we couldn’t conduct it on time,” Yasir said.
“There’s uncertainty about when things would become normal again. Therefore, we have to bring such a battery, which can gauge fitness of players and also help them achieve fitness goals with limited resources like gym equipment,” he said.
Malik said they have tried to formulate a new battery that is close to the previous battery and gives similar results. “Our effort is to make sure that our players stay fit and ready for whenever the cricket action begins,” he added.
