Nicki Minaj is making headlines after her surprise appearance at Turning Point event.
The rapper was interviewed by Erika Kirk, the wife of slain activist Charlie Kirk, at the gathering of conservatives in Arizona.
During the conversation, she praised US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, calling them “role models” for young men during the event titled AmericaFast.
Her admiration for the Republican leaders took some people by surprise outside the US, with a large number of them asking about her political association.
For those unaware, she hasn't always supported Trump and previously criticized him for his public statements on a range of issues.
According to Associated Press, the Grammy-nominated rapper’s recent alignment with the Make America Great Again movement has caught some interest because of her past criticism of Trump even when the artist’s own political ideology had been difficult to pin down.
"But her appearance Sunday at the flagship event for the powerful conservative youth organization may shore up her status as a MAGA acolyte," reported AP.
During her appearance, she mocked California Governor Gavin Newsom, referring to him as New-scum, a nickname Trump gave him.
Erika Kirk took over as leader of Turning Point after the assassination of her husband during an event on September 10.
