WANA: The district administration has set up seven centres for distribution of relief package under Ehsaas Programme in all the subdivisions of South Waziristan tribal district, a senior official said on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Hameedullah Khan said that with the help of Frontier Corps (FC)-South, four centres were set up at the district headquarters Wana, and two each in Ladha and Sarwakai subdivisions while FC-South was providing security to these centres. In Wana, the centres have been established at Agri Park, Government Primary School Sholam, Army Public School Shakai, and Government High School Toikhula. The centres in Ladha have been set up at tehsil building Sararogha and tehsil building Ladha while in Sarwakai subdivision, arrangements have been made at Maulay Khan Serai and the deputy commissioner’s compound. The official said that for the centres, they selected those areas that have the Internet facility. He said a disinfection spray has also been started in communal places of South Waziristan, initially starting in Sarwakai and Tiarza tehsils. “There are 4,200 previous beneficiaries of the program, which was formerly called Benazir Income Support Programme, and before others, those BISP beneficiaries will be given Rs12,000 each under the Ehsaas Programme now,” he added. For the enlisting other beneficiaries, 36 teams were formed as per the instructions of the provincial government and the teams during a survey enlisted 22,146 people, whose data was shared with KP government, he said. “Hopefully, the distribution of the fund will start by the end of the next week while FC-South personnel will protect the centres,” Hameedullah Khan added.
