Constitution Day today: Rabbani stresses use of Constitution in virus crisis
ISLAMABAD: Former Senate chairman Mian Raza Rabbani said in the virus crisis the government should have used the Constitution to build a national consensus.
“The 18th Amendment added to sprit of the Constitution. Pakistan as a federation can only survive under the Constitution, 1973,” he said while talking to The News on Thursday on the eve of the April 10, which was being observed as a Constitution Day.
Mian Raza Rabbani, who as a Senate chairman has started the observance of April 10 as a Constitution Day, said that on the 10th April, 1973 Constitution was passed by the elected representatives of Pakistan.
He said document passed unanimously by political parties and the federating units and that is why the previous Senate decided to observe this as Constitution Day.
