KARAK: Lawmakers belonging to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Wednesday alleged that the line departments had failed in solving the problems of people and police were taking bribes to release people who were arrested for violating the lockdown.
Speaking at a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Shah Rukh Ali Khan, MPAs Malik Zafar Azam and Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel alleged that the line departments had shut their eyes to the
basic problems of people due to outbreak of Covid-19. They said there were insanitary situation at health facilities of the district.
They further alleged that police were arresting the people, particularly youngsters, in violation of lockdown protocols but then released them by taking bribes from them.
In response to the lawmakers, DSP headquarters Muhammad Ismail Marwat asked them to pinpoint the policemen involved in bribery so that action is taken against them.
On the occasion, District Health Officer Karak Sadiq Shah Afridi responded that water and electricity were needed in the health facilities but no one was ready to provide these facilities in the hospitals.
