PESHAWAR: A passerby woman was injured in an encounter between police and wanted criminals in Regi village on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Tuesday. An official said that a heavy contingent of the police conducted a raid after reports that two proclaimed offenders wanted for 16 cases were hiding in Regi. However, the criminals opened fire on police to evade arrest. A woman was wounded in the crossfire. The accused Riaz and Arif carrying Rs1.5 million head money managed to escape from the spot. The police launched a search operation in the area to arrest the accused.
