District West Deputy Commissioner Fayyaz Aslam Solangi on the directives of Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani sealed a fabric factory on Monday for producing substandard personal protective equipment (PPE) for doctors and paramedics.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner Office, the factory, whose was situated in the SITE area. The statement, however, did not mention the name of the factory. The factory was allegedly producing unsafe and substandard medical gears for doctors and paramedics combatting COVID-19.
“The equipment was supposed to be provided to those, who are fighting against the coronavirus in the front line,” the statement read. Meanwhile, the commissioner warned other such companies producing personal medical equipment to mend their ways if they were producing any substandard material. The companies making substandard or unsafe material will be strictly dealt with in accordance with the law, Shallwani said.
