LAHORE:In line with directions of the federal HEC, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) has announced treating the ongoing closure until May 31 as summer vacation and suspended online classes for its students. It is pertinent to mention that recently the HEC had asked universities to start teaching online if they had well-instituted and operational learning management system (LMS); otherwise, the universities might choose to remain closed for all formal academic processes until May 31, 2020, and consider the break period as summer vacation.

Meanwhile, Punjab University administration has decided to continue online classes during the vacation in order to engage students.

In this regard, PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad chaired a meeting of deans here Monday. The meeting discussed that the whole world was facing the Covid-19 crisis and the time to fight the disease was indefinite. The meeting discussed that since many things were uncertain and a large number of students had requested to continue online classes as it was better for them to study rather than wasting their time at home under the prevailing situation, it would be in their interest to continue online classes in order to avoid wastage of academic year, which would create problems for them to get jobs. The meeting decided that decision regarding exams and assessment of the students would be taken later according to the circumstances at that time. It also decided that assignments could be given to the students; however, practical sessions with relevant module would be conducted later.
