Pakistan’s economy was already at a low ebb, facing high inflation when it was hit by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to this, the current spell of rain will have a devastating effect on the standing crops and put further pressure on the struggling economy. We must plan to store and secure these crops as soon as they are ready. We can’t take the risk of leaving farmers at the mercy of unpredictable rains and weather patterns. Our leadership must show vision and plan for days ahead. We need a strong plan on how to put our economy on path of recovery as soon as this pandemic is under control.
The government and politicians need to realize that a strong economy can only be built on education and healthcare for all. We as a nation must pay attention to every sector of the economy, while the government must create a consensus to initiate projects for building dams and other infrastructure. This will not only take care of future need, but also create employment. Similarly, all segments of society must come together to do their bit to make the country strong and prosperous so that we get out of this crisis stronger than before.
