FAISALABAD: Five people were killed in as many road accidents here on Saturday.
In the first incident, Shahid Mehmood, a lecturer, was on way home when a truck crushed him to death at Nishatabad Chowk. The people overpowered the truck driver. Later, he was handed over to Nishatabad police. A case has been registered.
In the second incident, Nosher was killed when a tractor-trolley hit him. In the third incident, Muhammad Adeel of Babar Chowk was on his way when a vehicle hit him, killing him on the spot.
Meanwhile, an unidentified boy of Chibban and an unidentified youth of Churmajra were killed in separate road accidents.
WOMAN GANG-RAPED: A woman was abducted and gang-raped here on Friday night.
Amina of Mohallah Ahmadabad was on way home from a market when four unidentified car riders abducted her. The accused took the woman to a deserted house where they gang-raped her. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
RALLY: The brick kiln owners on Saturday took out a rally against the Labour Qaumi Movement (LQM) leaders for allegedly demanding extortion from them.
The protesters were chanting slogans against the LQM leaders. They were also carrying banners and placards. They demanded the district administration take notice of it otherwise they would close their brick kilns permanently. They warned of prolonging their strike if the issue was not resolved. Later, they staged a sit-in at Zila Council Chowk.
