International flights to resume from April 5

LAHORE: The federal government has decided to resume international flights from April 5 to facilitate the return of Pakistanis stranded across the world, The News has learnt.

In this regard, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a notification on Saturday. According to the notification, the flights will be operational from Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan and Faisalabad airports.

The chief secretaries of all the provinces have been instructed for necessary preventive measures against the spread of coronavirus.

It has been decided that to control the spread of coronavirus, all passengers will be screened at the airports. The suspected passengers will be quarantined at designated hotels. Respected provincial and district administrations and Health Departments will be responsible for the transportation of suspected cases from airports to designated hotels and their medical treatment. The chief secretaries have been asked to submit a detailed report of the bedding capacity of the designated hotels and arrangements for medical treatment of the suspected cases to the NDMA for better coordination.
