GUJRANWALA: District Zakat Committee chairman Sarmad Zaheer Friday approved Rs 24 million for the needy persons of the district.
Talking to reporters, the chairman said the funds will be distributed among daily wagers through easypaisa service as they are facing difficulties due to lockdown in the country. Sarmad directed the officers and staff of Zakat committee to prepare the lists of the deserving people for early distribution of the funds. He said no person will be called at the office.
FIXED RATES: Commissioner Gulzar Hussain Shah said all-out are underway to provide daily use commodities to citizens at fixed rates.
Talking to reporters, the commissioner said there is no shortage of wheat flour and other edibles in the division. He directed all price magistrates to arrest shopkeepers who are selling 20 kg flour bag more than Rs 805. The commissioner said no price hike and violation of fixed rates of daily use commodities would be allowed and stern action would be taken to protect the rights of consumers. He said the authorities concerned to ensure availability of wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil, fruit and vegetables on fixed rates. The commissioner said 134 flour mills in the division are being provided with 35,640 wheat bags daily basis while all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and other officers concerned have been directed to monitor the supply and demand situation in the market. He said strict action will be taken against profiteers and hoarders.
