Islamabad: The residents, who thought the winter season was over, resumed the use of woollies on Friday as the continuous heavy rain coupled with strong winds turned the weather chilly in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Humidity in the air reached the 100 per cent mark in the day.

According to the Met Office, Islamabad's New Airport area received 46 millimetres of rain, Saidupur 40, Zero Point 33, Golra 32 and Bokra 28, and Rawalpindi's Shamsabad area 37 millimetres.

Islamabad reported the minimum temperature of 14 degree Celsius (100% humidity) and Rawalpindi that of 15 degree Celsius (100% humidity). The rainfall caused by a westerly wave will continue until Saturday.

According to weathermen, the intermittent thundershower is expected in Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday and in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab on Saturday.
