A police inspector of the investigation branch of the Karachi police has been found infected with the novel coronavirus.
A spokesman for the Sindh police said a case of COVID-19 was confirmed in a 49-year-old official of the Sindh police, Inspector Yaseen Gujjar, who is currently serving in the South investigation branch.
He was taken to the Indus Hospital a few days ago after he developed symptom of fever and cough. His test report was issued on Friday, according to which he had tested positive for coronavirus.
The inspector is under intensive care presently and all his contacts, including family members and colleagues, are being monitored, the spokesperson said. The Sindh inspector general of police has ordered the screening of his contacts. The South police and the welfare branch of the Sindh Police shall take steps for the welfare and care of the patient.
