Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani has said the Senate has taken cognizance of the issue of the unjust award of foreign scholarships for higher education to prospective students by past regimes, and has ordered an investigation into
He was speaking at a ceremony held at the Arts Council Karachi on Saturday to pay homage to Pakistani competitors who performed outstandingly in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship in the US.
Rabbani said the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Air Force’s Badaber Airbase in Peshawar was condemnable and had saddened the entire nation.
He added that the people of Pakistan needed courage and valour to withstand such acts of aggression.
He said it was highly shameful that the United States had not issued visas to Pakistani students who had performed well in the global IT championship in America. Only one such prospective Pakistani student had been issued with a visa by the American government, he mentioned.
The Senate chairman said that Pakistani students performing well in the world IT championship had given a befitting response to America for not issuing visas to them.
Rabbani also met Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House and discussed affairs of mutual interest.
