360 litre wine seized, four arrested in Mardan

MARDAN: The police seized 360 litres of wine while arresting the trafficker and also held three other accused in murder and drug smuggling cases in separate actions on Wednesday.

District Police Officer Sajjad Khan told journalists that the police intercepted one Noor Muhammad in the Sheikh Maltoon Town and arrested him after recovering 360 litres of wine from his car.

“We seized the car being driven by Noor Muhammad, who hails from the Mohmand district but was currently living in Peshawar,” he added.

In the same area, the DPO added, a police party arrested a proclaimed offender Nasim, hailing from the Akora Khattak town, who had been wanted in cases of murder and attempted murder.

The police also caught two Khyber district residents Wali Bacha and Raza Khan after the police recovered 1255 grams charas from their car (6600).

The Mardan police chief said the policemen deployed at the main gates of various offices have been handed special thermometers to screen the visitors.

“Police have been asked to wear masks and avoid handshakes.

Meanwhile, we have also closed the licence branch, driving school and other offices for two weeks to prevent the spread of coronavirus,” he added.
