MARDAN: Employees of the Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU) staged protest outside the Mardan Press Club on Wednesday against the arrest of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ihsan Ali by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Led by All Employees Association (AEA) president Ajmal Hoti and general secretary Jawad Sangar, the protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in support of the arrested vice-chancellor.
The protesters condemned the arrest of Dr Ihsan Ali and demanded his immediate release. They warned of closing the university if he was not released forthwith.
The protesters termed arrest of two vice-chancellors in one case against the law and asked the NAB chairman to conduct an inquiry into the case.
The senior management and faculty members of AWKU also expressed concern over the surprise arrest of Prof Dr Ihsan Ali.
