PARACHINAR: Speakers at a seminar demanded abolition of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) and introduction of local government system in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
The demand was made at seminar organised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Kurram chapter here on Monday.
PTI leaders Iqbal Afridi, Dr Khalilur Rehman, Gul Dad Khan, Mehdi Hussain Bangash, Siraj Hussain and others spoke at the seminar.
The participants said that it was high time to acknowledge the sacrifices of the tribespeople and raise voice for their rights. The speakers said that abolition of the FCR and introduction of the local government system in Fata would bring the tribespeople into the national mainstream.
They said that bringing Fata into mainstream would strengthen the federation, adding that PTI would take steps to ensure the security of Pakistan. They said that PTI had a clear policy on the country’s sovereignty and it had been asking other parties not to compromise Pakistan’s interest for political gains.
