District Consumer Court on Monday directed a car tracker company to pay Rs1,659,000 to a consumer for providing defective tracking services and showing negligence in tracing a snatched car. Consumer Muhammad Naeem contended before the court that he purchased a tracker from respondent’s company and installed in his car. He contended that on July 14, 2013, his car was snatched during a dacoity and he got registered an FIR in Sadar police station of Sargodha. He submitted to the court that after that he and the SHO concerned contacted with the respondent for tracing the location of his car but he was shocked to hear when the respondent said that his tracker was not working for 20 to 25 days and denied helping the petitioner in tracing his car. He told the court that he protested against the irresponsible attitude of the respondent stating that it was responsibility of the respondent company to intimate him if the tracker was not working for 20 days but he was not informed. —Correspondent
