Special sacrificial animals markets setup for Eidul Azha

The sellers of sacrificial animals will not be allowed to enter the city as local management is going to establish ‘Special Sacrificial Animals Markets’ at various points to keep the city clean and to avoid traffic related difficulties. The city district government, Rawalpindi has constituted special task force to take action against violators, impose fines and even confiscate their animals.
Rawal Town (Administrator) Imran Ahmed Qureshi said that animal sellers coming from adjoining areas are being directed to take their animals in these markets and the task force is not allowing the animals’ sellers to come near residential areas. The city district government has allotted five open spaces for establishment of sacrificial animals markets for Eidul Azha, he said.
He said that we have chosen Channi, Rawat, Chakri Road, Adiala Road and Gorakhpur to establish animal markets. All arrangements have been finalised to establish sacrificial animal markets. Sacrificial animal markets would be operational in a couple of days, he assured. He said that he deployed 13 inspectors for removing animals from the city areas to avoid traffic problems. “We are continuously announcing in mosques to warn animal sellers to shift their animals outside the city in markets otherwise legal action would be taken,” he warned. He also said that there would be strict security arrangements at sacrificial animals markets and police officials of concerned police stations would remain present at these points for 24 hours, he assured. He said that no tax would be charged at these markets.
Special task force has started conducting raids against the animals’ sellers and the animals of the violators are also being confiscated while fines are also being imposed in this regard. The local management has established animals markets in outer parts of the city to avoid congestion and traffic problems.
The sources said that RCB and CCB will also establish three animal markets at Choor Chowk, Dhoke Syedan and Dhoke Gujran where sacrificial animals sell.
It is pertinent to mention here that every year on the occasion of Eidul Azha a large number of sacrificial animals are brought in Rawalpindi city. Dhoke Syedan, Bagh Sardaran, Chungi No-22 near Bakra Mandi, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Choor near Shah Piyara, Misriyal Road, Scheme No-III, Dhoke Kala Khan, and Sadiqabad were previously among famous animal markets before Eidul Azha.
‘The News’ learnt that herds of animal started arriving in Rawalpindi city. This time mostly animal sellers are coming from different areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. This time prices of animals are touching sky as a normal goat is being sold at Rs20,000 to Rs30,000.
Meanwhile, Solid Waste Management Company Managing Director Muhammad Irfan Qureshi said that all necessary arrangements have been completed to keep the city neat and clean on Eidul Azha. He informed that a comprehensive cleanliness plans for upcoming Eidul Azha has been devised to get rid of entrails of animals under which over all sanitary workers will perform duty.
He said all vehicles would be used to remove garbage and offal from all city areas during Eid holidays.
