HANGU: Expressing displeasure over the abolition of a police post near the passport office, the residents on Friday asked Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani to order re-establishment of the post.
Zaheer Hussain, Allama Khursheed Anwar Jawadi and other residents of Darwezai area said that they were feeling insecure after the abolition of the police post. They said the post had been established for security concerns a few years ago.
They said the post was abolished on the directives of the District Police Officer (DPO) Shah Nazar Khan. They said the DPO claimed that the post was abolished due to shortage of cops for security in the district.
Another resident, Noor Rehman, said the area was sensitive and situated on the boundary with the tribal area. He said the decision left the area vulnerable to any sabotage act.
The residents demanded the IGP, DPO Hangu and other officials concerned to reverse the decision to prevent any untoward incident.
