SIALKOT: A meeting of the Sialkot Union of Journalists was held to condemn the brutal target killings of Geo TV satellite engineer Arshad Ali Jaffery and senior journalist Aftab Alam in Karachi.
While addressing the meeting here on Wednesday, SUJ president Amir Khan, general secretary Faisal Khawar Butt, Malik Iftikhar Hussain, Junaid Aftab, SM Shahid, Yasir Ikram, Malik Shahid Mubarak and others said that the federal and provincial governments had failed in providing security to the journalists in the country. They said that Pakistan had become one of the worst countries for journalists during the last few years. The government was not taking measures to improve the situation, they lamented. They demanded the government arrest the killers of Arshad Ali Jaffery and Aftab Alam immediately besides providing financial assistance to their grieved families.
