Chakwal traders defy strike call against withholding tax

CHAKWAL: The Chakwal traders Wednesday rejected the strike call against the withholding tax and 95 per cent shops, business markets and shopping centres remained open throughout the day.
The Markzi Anjuman-e-Tajran called the strike against the withholding tax. Merchant Association president Sheikh Waqar Ali after consulting the traders’ community rejected the strike call. He approached shopkeepers and thanked them and small traders and venders appreciated the spirit of Sheikh Waqar. He was of the view that small traders and venders have nothing to do with the withholding tax and the small traders supported the shutter down strike two months ago. He said small traders cannot afford strike.
NOMINATION PAPERS FILED: More than 40 nomination papers were filed with the offices of returning officers throughout the district. Some nine nomination papers for the slots of general councilors were filed for Union Council named Bheen, three for UC Jaswal, 5 for UC Mangwal and 4 for UC Siral.
The last date of filing of nomination papers is September 11th.
The election commission have relaxed the party tickets and now candidates can submit their party tickets by September 30th.
Special Assistant to CM Punjab Malik Saleem Iqbal and MPA Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Dullah have nominated their candidates while MPA Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Dullah have started distribution of party tickets to his own choice and the parliamentary board was no where till the filing of this report.
Malik Saleem Iqbal said final tickets would be announced by the CM Punjab.
The PTI have distributed its tickets to all its candidates and tickets on the remaining seats would be given by September 30th.
Ex-district Nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas group gave a green signal to all potential candidates to start their election campaign.
