SWAT commandos’ of SSU show skills in Dubai
A six-member Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Special Security Unit (SSU) showed remarkable skills in the second edition of the UAE SWAT Challenge 2020.
The event was hosted by Dubai Police at the Al Ruwayaa Training City from February 9 to 12 in which 54 teams from 30 countries competed in five categories.
According to a spokesperson for the SSU, the teams staged mock hostage rescues, raids challenges, rescue of injured officers, the tower challenge and overcoming obstacle courses. The panel of judges included 34 members from the UAE and the US. The SSU police team, which comprised five commandos, was led by DSP Aurangzeb Khan. It was Pakistan’s first-ever SWAT team representation in any international event. Inspector General of Police Sindh Dr Syed Kaleem Imam, Additional Inspector General Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon and DIG Maqsood Ahmed applauded the team’s performance.
