Two policemen arrested for demanding bribe from cop
FAISALABAD: On the orders of CPO Sohail Ch, police on Saturday arrested two policemen on the charge of demanding bribe from a cop for his transfer.
Reportedly, ASI Sultan Ahmad and constable Muhammad Majid of the Security Branch were arrested for demanding Rs 3,000 bribe from complainant policeman Maqsood Ahmad of Sargodha Road police station for his transfer to a police station of his own choice. Both the accused cops were present in the CPO Office for personal hearing when complainant police cop produced the video recording in which ASI Sultan Ahmad and Majid Ali were demanding bribe from him for his transfer. To it, the CPO ordered to arrest both the police officials. The CPO said that corrupt and incompetent police officials would be punished.
MAN COMMITS SUICIDE: A man committed suicide at Chak 615 on Saturday.
Sajid Ali, a local traffic assistant, ended his life by hanging himself in a rented room at Shoaib Bilal Market. The motive behind the incident is said to be that he was facing suspension from duty as he had failed to attend the course and regularly perform his duty. Due to this lapse, Chief Traffic Officer Sardar Asif Khan had issued a show-cause notice to Sajid Ali. His salary was also stopped under the orders of the competent authority.
TREE PLANTATION CAMPAIGN: The Patrolling Police of Faisalabad Region will plant more than 700,000 saplings during the tree plantation campaign to be launched on February 15.According to SSP Patrolling Farooq Ahmad Hundal, 100,000 saplings would be supplied to 50 Patrolling Police Check-posts in Faisalabad Region while every patrolling police post would be supplied 2,000 saplings.
SUGAR RECOVERED FROM GODOWN: Assistant Commissioner Sadar Umar Maqbool on Saturday conducted a raid at Judge Wala and recovered 9,000 bags of sugar stored in a godown for profiteering.
NEWBORN ABDUCTED FROM CLINIC: A newborn was allegedly abducted from a private clinic here on Saturday. Surraya Bibi of Mansoorabad gave birth to a baby. Later, some unidentified accused abducted the baby.
SWEEPER FOUND DEAD: A sweeper of the Sessions Courts was found dead in the compound of the courts in mysterious circumstances on Saturday. Rais Masih of Nasir Colony was found dead in the compound and blood was flowing from his mouth and nose.
MAN BURNT ALIVE: A man was burnt alive at Lalian on Saturday.
Shafique Ahmad sustained fatal burns when he was sleeping near a heater in his house. He was shifted to Allied Hospital but he could not survive.
11 HELD WITH NARCOTICS: Police have arrested 11 drug pushers and recovered narcotics from them. The police arrested the accused including Nazir Masih and recovered 9.470kg heroin and 4.070kg charas from their possession. The police also nabbed four proclaimed offenders and recovered 15 pistols, one gun, one rifle and a revolver from their possession.
