LAHORE:Punjab Minister for Energy Dr Akhtar has said Pakistan has fought wars of others in the last forty years that led to many problems which hindered smooth development of the country and ‘we lost our identity.’
According to a press release, addressing the 5th Speakers Convention on Kashmir organised by Pakistan Youth Parliament at Punjab University’s College of Earth and Environmental Sciences (CEES) here on Thursday, the minister said there was a need to re-identify ‘our objectives in the light of teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’.
Air Marshal (retd) Sajid Habib, CEES Principal Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the event. Dr Akhtar Malik said Kashmir was a part of Pakistan and the government was making serious efforts to resolve Kashmir issue as per the desire of Kashmiri people. He said Kashmir issue had been highlighted and ‘we expressed solidarity with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters.’
The minister said the international community must take serious notice of human rights violations in India-held Kashmir. He said usage of the atomic bomb was not a problem but it would destroy not only the region but the whole world. He said: “We needed to become Pakistani to resolve all our issues. Hypocrisy was one of our biggest problems and we needed to clean our hearts.”
Air Marshal (Retd) Sajid Habib said talk shows were dividing the nation. He said Pakistan must be safe for non-Muslims as per guidelines of Quaid-e-Azam. He said ‘we must play our role at individual level to strengthen our country. There was a need to unite irrespective of our caste, race, religion and political affiliation. If we become a good Pakistani, Kashmir will become Pakistan,” he added.
Prof Dr Sajid Rashid said the Muslims must create new knowledge and regain their glory. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan had strongly presented the case of Kashmir at the United Nations. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan Army. Later, souvenirs were presented to the guests.
