Rangers, police apprehend 16 suspects in raids

The Sindh Rangers and police on Thursday jointly arrested 16 suspects in separate raids in parts of the city. According to a Rangers spokesperson, 13 suspects were arrested during a series of raids in Ferozabad, al-Falah, Napier, Eidgah and Korangi areas.

The suspects arrested were Gul Amir, Hazrat Gul, Naeem, Sabir, Imran Khanalias Manika, Waqar, Tamil, Omar Khayam, Uzair, Javed, Shan alias Shana, Rashid, Tanvir Abbas and Shahbaz, he said.

The spokesperson said the arrested suspects were involved in incidents of robberies and street crimes. Two more suspects – namely Rashid Ali alias Mota alias Lalu, and Saddam Hussain alias Gainda – were apprehended and they were involved in drug peddling, the spokesman said.

In another raid, a suspect, namely Atiq, was rounded up during a raid conducted in Chakiwara area of Lyari, he said, adding that the arrested suspect was involved in various cases of extortion.

The spokesperson also claimed to have recovered arms, ammunition and drugs from the possession of suspects. The arrested men were later handed over to the police for legal proceedings.
