Snowfall at Patriata captivates visitors
Islamabad: The people from various parts of the country especially Rawalpindi and Islamabad thronged New Murree and Patriata area to catch glimpse of the snow-blanketed hill station that is famous for its scenic beauty and captivating landscape.
The snowfall started on couple of days back and it has now covered the mountains in white and a large number of families and children were spotted in New Murree and Patriata enjoying beautiful cold weather and making snowmen on roadsides and public places.
“When we started our journey from Rawalpindi we did not have any idea that there would be snowfall in Patriata. It is now really exciting to see snowfall and enjoy hot coffee at the rooftop of this region,” said Nadeem Aslam, who was present at a coffee shop with his family members in Patriata.
The tourists were also seen rushing towards two coffee shops in Patriata but layers of snow at the stairs were not allowing them to comfortably move upwards as many of them really struggled hard to reach the entry doors of these outlets.
The powdery white layer enhanced the landscape that drew scores of visitors despite extreme weather conditions. Many motorists stopped their vehicles on the way to take pictures also with snowmen.
Manzoor Hussain, a local shopkeeper, said the people are interested in seeing snowfall in winter and cold weather in summers-which are both available in Patriata and now it is easily accessible after the construction of Murree Expressway.
“The winter season extends from October to March and normally rain and snowfall occurs during this season. There are hotels starting from the cheapest to the most expensive ones in nearby areas that suit the requirements of people belonging to all sections of the society,” he said.
Though the tourists face some kind of problems and minor inconveniences the snow offers plenty of splendid moments to fun-lovers who can enjoy a lot amid cold weather conditions.
