55-hour road blocked: Over 500 tenants booked under ATA

OKARA: Sadr police have registered four cases under different sections against more than 500 tenants for blocking GT Road for 55 hours during a demonstration.
The first case was registered on the complainant of SHO Inspector Aziz Cheema against 502 tenants, including AMP general secretary Mehr Abdul Sattar, Ghulam Sarwar and Munir. The case was registered under sections 120-B, 353, 148, 149, 341, 435, 506-B and 324 of the PPC, Section 16 of the MPO and Section 7 of the ATA. Police have arrested four accused Mohsin, Arslan, Irfan and Malik.
The second case was registered by the SHO under same of sections the PPC with other sections of the ATA and MPO against 152 nominated and 350 unidentified accused.
The third case was registered on the complaint of Mumtaz. He reported to police that he was going Daska when his car stuck in the traffic jam due to road blockade near Chak 3/4L level crossing. The case was registered under Section 395 of the PPC against Ghafoor, Habib and Khushi Dola.
The fourth case was registered on the complaint of Inspector Mehr Muhammad Ismail against 350 unidentified and 162 nominated accused for injuring Constables Asghar Ali and Israrul Haq during the demonstration. The nominated accused include AMP general secretary Mehr Abdul Sattar. The case was registered under sections 120-B, 324, 353, 186, 148, 149, 367, 109, and 337L2 of the PPC and Section 7 of the ATA.
21 BOOKED: City A-Division police have registered a case against 21 people under sections 324, 148, 149 and 11-B of the PPC and the 7-ATA.
Those booked include Ghafoor, Iftikhar and Ramzan. They had allegedly shot at and injured some protesters during a demonstration outside the press club. The protesters were delivering speeches against the government. Meanwhile, police have arrested Ashraf, Chand, Latif and Arslan.
