PESHAWAR: The Pakhtunkhwa Jamhoori Ittehad (PJI) on Friday took out a rally against the government for failing to check the flour crisis and control the burgeoning inflation.

Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, the convener of the alliance, led the rally that started from the Khyber Bazaar and culminated outside the Peshawar Press Club. Carrying banners and placards, the participants in the rally changed slogans against the government for its failure to provide any relief to the people in the face of skyrocketing inflation and failing to overcome the flour crisis.

Mukhtiar Bacha of National Party, Gul Haider Khan of Mazdoor Kissan Party, Shahab Khattak of Awami Workers Party, Dr Mushtaq of Pakhtunkhwa Ulasi Tehreek and a large number of workers the Qaumi Watan Party attended the protest rally. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders of the alliance criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for failing to check the spiraling prices of the daily use commodities.

They also flayed the government for the repeated increase in the gas and power tariffs which added to the woes of the common people. They said that the rising price-hike had dented the purchasing power of the less fortunate who were finding it hard to feed their children. The protesters said that the person who had caused the four crisis had been asked to investigate the matter which spoke volumes about the sincerity of the government to fix responsibility and unearth the facts.
