Declined crime rate reflects serious police efforts
Islamabad : The declined crime rate in Capital during 2019 has reflected efforts of law enforcers towards effective policing and improved strategy to maintain law and order and curb activities of anti-social elements.
According to police, Islamabad police obtained great achievements during the tenure of incumbent Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar khan and succeeded to bring decline in crime rate during 2019. As per data, the crime rate in Islamabad declined in 2019 as compared to the previous year (2018) while effective crackdown was launched against anti-social elements following directions of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar khan.
Crime of heinous nature declined in Islamabad upto 16.47 in 2019 as compared to 2018. During 2019, a total of 106 murder cases were registered as compared to corresponding year 2018. A total of 668 persons were held for their involvement in crime cases of heinous nature while 606 such accused cases nabbed during 2018.
Likewise, kidnapping for ransom, dacoity, snatching, theft and burglary cases declined upto 50 percent, 30 percent, 7.79 percent, 34 percent and 23.56 percent respectively.
Police recovered looted items worth Rs70 million during 2019 while looted items worth Rs29.3 million were recovered during 2018. A total of 111 gangs were busted for involvement in dacoity and snatching items and 317 accused were held besides recovery of gold ornaments, cash and other looted items from their possession.
A total of 19 blind murder cases including of Major Laraib, Farishta, Kamishka, Umer Rathor were traced while six accused involved in killing of a police constable Muhammad Waseem were held who tried to foil their dacoity attempt in Industrial Area police station.
The dacoits involved in looting cash from a post office in Shehzad town police station were held while another accused involved in kidnapping for ransom case was also arrested by Lio Bher police. Dacoity cases at the houses of Hasham Asad, Arsalan Hashmi in Orchard Scheme were resolved while dacoits involved in dacoities at houses of Shehbaz Ahmed and Asad Ali residents of sector F-10/2 were nabbed besides recovery of looted items from them.
Islamabad Police Chief Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan said the force achieved great success and all efforts are appreciable. He said that policemen from Operational Wing headed by DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed worked hard to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and achieved success in the assigned tasks.
He said that such efforts would continue in future and Islamabad would be made more secure city.
