Civil judge booked for raping woman litigant

KARACHI: First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against    Sehwan Civil Judge for allegedly raping a woman litigant.

According to the content of FIR copy of which is available with The News, complainant Salma Birohi narrated that she has left the home of her husband and reached Sehwan with Nisar Birohi where on Jan 13, Sehwan Police arrested them and produced before Civil Judge Imtiaz Bhutto, who after directing all staff and other persons to leave his office, ordered her to come with him in his chamber adjacent to court room where he after blackmailing raped her.

Salma Birohi, who is confined at Darul Aman, Larkana in her written complaint received by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sehwan Basheer Khonharo in presence of Deputy Director of Darul Aman, Larkana concluded that she came forward against judge to protect others from this alleged rapist judge.

Samples of the woman has been obtained and sent to laboratory for DNA test, informed Dr Qazi Mueen, Director of Abdullah Shah Medical Institute, Sehwan, however, despite filling of FIR, accused civil judge was not produce yet for medical examination. Salma Birohi, resident of Shahdadkot, married some 25 days earlier with Nadir Mugheri and after dispute with her husband she left her home with a person namely Nisar Birohi and reached Sehwan, a FIR of kidnapping Salma against Nisar has been registered at Police Station Shahdadkot. On the other hand, Salma Birohi also has approached the civil judge court, Shahdadkot for cancellation of her marriage with Nadir Mugheri and her application is still under process. This reporter visited Sehwan town and talked with many people, court staff, lawyers, doctors and journalists and found majority of people are against the accused Judge Imtiaz Bhutto.

However, some lawyers, terming accused Judge Bhutto innocent, declared the whole issue conspiracy of local police.

A advocate on the condition of not to be named informed this reporter that this was not the first incident in which accused Judge Mr Bhutto was named. Two court officials also supported the version of said lawyer. On the other hand, citizens also complained the attitude of judge for his unnecessary involvement in the affairs of local girls’ school and college, matters of public health, hospital and even crusher plants.
