LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday deferred the hearing of a petition seeking disqualification of Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, directing the counsel for the petitioner to prepare himself properly for the case.

LHC Chief Justice Mamoon Rasheed asked Mian Asif, the counsel for petitioner Faiq Shah, president of Amn Taraqqi Party, that he did not seem properly prepared for pleading the case. The CJ asked him to come fully prepared the next time on the petition seeking disqualification of Faisal Vawda on charges of bringing the security institutions into serious disrespect by accusing them of dictating the legislation process, thus, violating his oath of the parliament.

The petition also demanded formation of a judicial commission on the incident of bringing the military boot into a TV talk show by the minister, which called for his disqualification as member of the parliament as a serious violation of Article 62-1(f) of the Constitution.
