A division bench of the Lahore High Court Wednesday gave final opportunity to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file its reply about the bail petition of PPP’s senior leader Qasim Zia facing charges of fraud.
The bureau’s counsel requested the bench for a short adjournment saying he needed more time to present record of the case. The bench allowed the request, however, observed that it would decide the petition if the reply was not submitted on next hearing. The bench deferred the hearing till Sept 7.
cops: An Additional District and Sessions Court on Wednesday issued show-cause notices to three police officials for not complying with the court orders. The court has issued show-cause notices to the constables, including Muhammad Iqbal, Rashid Ahmed and Ilyas. It has learnt that the court had directed the police officials to appear before the court and record their statements as prosecution witnesses in a drug case pending before the court.
film: A stage artiste, Iftikhar Thakar, approached the Lahore High Court for a complete ban on exhibition of Indian film in Pakistan. He stated in his petition that the day of Aug 28, 2015 witnessed the bloodiest violation of ceasefire by India that left eight Pakistanis killed, 47 injured including 24 women and eleven children.
He said it was quit sad that on one hand that nation was receiving dead bodies and on the other hand the Pakistani authorities were allowing promotion of Indian culture and movies.
