Qureshi calls for dialogue to resolve ME situation
DOHA: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has called for dialogue to resolve Middle East situation diplomatically believing that any confrontation in the region would be in no one’s benefit.
He was talking to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha.
He apprised the Qatari foreign minister about Pakistan’s efforts for resolving the tension in the region and establishment of peace.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistan has been playing a vibrant and positive role in ending the tension and establishment of peace in the region.
While highlighting the ongoing human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir, the foreign minister said around eight million unarmed Kashmiri citizens were locked down and facing Indian aggression for last five months.
He said the oppressed Muslims of Kashmir are looking towards the international community particularly the Muslim world to get rid of the Indian atrocities and oppression.
Sheikh Mohammed appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace in Afghanistan as well as in the region.
Meanwhile, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that during his recent multination visit, he had conveyed a message to all the respective leaderships that Pakistan stood for peace and stability in the region.
In a tweet, the foreign minister said he had visited Iran, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the United States and Qatar on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s directive and had constructive engagement with counterparts on efforts to defuse tensions and promote peace in the Middle East.
“Pakistan’s message I took to all; We stand for peace and stability in the region, the foreign minister remarked.
Qureshi said in New York, he had also met Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres wherein he had underscored the critical importance of the International community’s continued attention to the sufferings of Kashmiri people under Indian occupation.
