More than 193 people were arrested in Karachi on Friday as the traffic police began taking action against people travelling on the wrong side of the road. According to a Sindh police spokesperson, 4,765 motorists were fined a total of Rs1,146,650 on the first day of the new crackdown.
As many as 163 cases were registered under Section 279 against the drivers. District City was on top with arresting 85 drivers, District South 41, District East 27, District Korangi, 13, District West 11, District Malir 10 and District Central six. The spokesperson said that the traffic DIG had initiated the campaign on the directives of Sindh Inspector General of Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam.
